As researchers, we spend a lot of time talking about work! Our career goals, our research interests, and our study species are easy topics to talk about. But I have many hobbies and interests outside of work! Some are nature-related, but many are completely unrelated to my passions for wildlife conservation. My goal with this page is not to brag, but to let people know that I am an entire person - not just a wildlife biologist!
Birding
I'm not an eBird regular, but I do enjoy trying to ID all the birds I see! I've never travelled specifically for birding, so the majority of my list comes from field tech jobs, hiking/camping, and backyard birding!
Hiking, Camping, and Backpacking
I grew up tent camping with my family - usually near a lake or the ocean. It was always so exciting to sleep outside! During covid, I finally ventured into backpacking and really enjoy bringing just enough to fit in your pack! I've backpacked throughout the Sierras, including Mount Whitney, and a few other mountain ranges out west. Ideally, I'd love to backpack some shorts stints along the Appalachian Trail while here in South Carolina!
Homebrewing
I started homebrewing with one of my mentors at USGS.
